Join us on a wonderful thermal and XC trip. We have planned the trip to suit all pilots. We will visit 3-4 different places on our roundtrip. We will travel from the flying sites during the evenings so we don’t miss any flying day.

We will begin the trip by going to a place on the coast called “Alfredo Chaves”, where it is flown a mixture between thermals and sea breeze. You can make smaller distances. Alfredo Chaves is perfect place for Scandinavians and pilots from the northern part of the world that has not flown so much in the autumn and/or winter. It is nearby the beach so for those who wish, there is an opportunity for sunbathing and swimming. There we will also have the opportunity to try some nice seafood before we go further into the country.

The next stop is Pancas, a small town about 4 hours of travel from Alfredo Chaves, where it is possible to do some good XC and thermals flights. Now, we will fly in rocky habitats with great granite formations. I have never seen anything like it anywhere else, so I would assume they are quite unique. For those who choose to fly locally, there are a very good restaurant in the city is only 50 meters away from the main landing spot.

After Pancas, we can go directly to Governador Valadares, or we can remain on Pablo’s fazenda (type farm) and eat a lot of good food. And the next day go to a place called São José Divino, which is situated just next to it. From there, it is possible to fly to Governador Valadares, which is about 59km away.

The next and last stop on the roundtrip is Governador Valadares. Now we're in Pablo’s hometown, where his local knowledge will be of great benefit to us. G.V offers tremendous opportunities for XC-flight, weak winds, large thermals. The thermals are not very strong but very frequent, which makes it relatively easy even for the less experienced pilot to fly distance. The landscape is hilly with many landing opportunities. G.V is a medium-sized town, so the range of restaurants, nightlife and shopping is very good. As Jocky Sanderson wrote in cross-country magazine, "Governador Valadares is for paragliders what Hawaii is for surfers." I have never surfed, but can agree that G.V. is one of the best flying sites I have ever been to it. It is not only the flight but also the big picture with the people, atmosphere, etc., which gives a strong impression. It is also the third flying site we will visit.

I am positively sure that you will be as enthusiastic in Brazil as us. The last stop will be Rio de Janeiro. There, we will have our last day of flying and an evening out on the city, before we separate at the airport.

Welcome Christer & Pablo.
